Pens for large format visual notes

Recently I had the opportunity to create some visual notes on a larger format than my usual 4.75 x 6.75 notebook.

The large format notes I took were on Post It brand easel pads, 25 x 30.

Obviously, the small nib felt pens that work for a notebook are too small for large format notes.

I discovered Artist’s Loft dual tip art markers at Michael’s craft store. My local store has a display of several colors featuring individual pens. The markers feature a chisel tip on one end and a brush tip on the other.

On my first trip, the store had a sale – buy 3 and get 3 – so I selected 12 markers. I chose 6 for skin and hair tones and 6 for general visual note elements.

On my second trip the sale had changed to buy 3 get 2, but I still left with 6 markers: 4 additional general colors and 2 shades of gray.

Below is my color swatch page featuring the Artist’s Loft markers next to the same pens plus 3 additional Sharpie skin tones.
