Designing presentations without bullet points

In February 2025, I attended Training Conference 2025. This session on designing presentations without bullet points was one of my favorites.

PowerPoint was initially designed for presentations. The old school model of presenting consisted of sending content to a graphic designer, who would then create literal 35mm slides to project onto a screen. While the availability of PowerPoint cut out that part of the development step, it meant users often misused the application.

Part of the problem is Microsoft’s fault. The default template for PowerPoint encourages you to use bullet points. Bullet points are not the best way to present content in presentations.
